Hi folks,
I am just back home, in Sofia and had a little more time to write. I know some of you were waiting for it.
What happened in Switzerland? First of all, I would like to thanks to Pete Coutts, Christiane Viatte, Raphael Steinhoefel and the rest of the people involved, for the excellent work and hospitality. Guys, you were just great.
During the Jomladay in Lucern, there were very interesting presentations and talks and I am a bit sad that it was impossible to attend them all.
During my presentation, it appear that not a lot of the people had experience with Joom!Fish and the interest was mostly on “Can it done this, can it done that?”. What I was happy about is to understand that we have in the fish most of what people want. Of course there are some things that can improve and we will further look into resolving these issues.
My most valuable discussions were with Wilco and Soeren, both great guys and the topics we were discussing were mainly related to the next version of Joomla! – 1.6 and what it is expected to be and what we could do in order to make Joom!Fish and VirtueMart work together. I think it is always easier to have these conversations face to face.
Yannick form sh404SEF is a very cool guy and we had long conversations how he got in the open source and how the things are running with his extensions. I was glad to hear that sh404SEF is now compatible with the latest development version (don’t ask me where it is, its in the public SVN) of Joom!Fish. Some minor improvements are expected in this integration as well.
During the Joomladay, Beat presented the new version of Community Builder and his ideas, how his extension will compete on the increasing market of social networking tools.
I have to admit that I was on the presentation of Nooku and honestly there are some very small things we could learn from it, however for me there was nothing impressing in it.
It was nice to see the feedback from the people live, in fact most of it came during the open discussions and not during the presentation and most of the people were pretty happy with what Joom!Fish offers, as well as most of them think that it “just works”, which for me is a very good indication.
I met also with Ste and Alex Red, who are from the Italian community and are really cool people (and paparaks :).
Now our little secret, we asked for some inputs regarding what could be improved and I received certain feedback, which we will take in consideration for sure. Therefore, we also opened a forum about Joom!Fish and we expect you to input your wishes (even the craziest) there. I will write more about it in the next day.
Finally, you can see my presentation (ppt) on slideshare.
