After the first release of Joom!Fish 1.8 several smaller bugs and improvements had been found by our community. Most of those smaller issues had been implemented in the 1.8.1 or 1.8.2 releases which are available at the moment.

As we consider the version 1.8 the latest version for Joomla! 1.0.x series we like to inform you that we will maintain the 1.8.x releases ongoing. We plan to review every month if important changes are found and what we can do about those issues. We always will collect some issues for one patch and will make sure that the patches do not affect your already used data and translations. Our goal is to create a very stable and reliable solution based on the feature set of Joom!Fish 1.8 for all Joomla! 1.0.x installations.

The next update and patch is planed for mid January 2008. If you still have some ideas and suggestions please feel free to report them either on our tracker or in the forum.

Since the release of Joom!Fish 1.8 and 1.8.1 we got several donations to the project. We are very thankful for those donations and like to thank all those of you. Special thanks goes to Rolf Fey from for a very generous donation which made him to the donor of the month :).

The new support forum dedicated to all the contributors and donors is picking up slowly as we are now getting a good group of people there. We are looking forward reading your questions and solving the related issues.

Thanks for all your support

With a big THANK you we like to announce that the Joom!Fish version 1.8 is about to be completed. The Release Candidate is available on our download page and open for productive testing.

After a three month internal Beta period with several testers on our SVN and technical mailing list we have completed all open tasks and fixed the known bugs in the system. Joom!Fish 1.8 is a feature release which provides several requested features and new ideas which have been discussed in the last time. We would like to thank all of you for your feedback, suggestions and bug fixes.

We have split the presentation of the new features in various documents available on our site. This is because otherwise it is just to much.

Ivo wrote already a nice article about his first impressions explaining the new features in an brief overview.

Geraint wrote an article about the new features in explaination. This article describes the whole new fallback language, the preview mode and the side by side preview which is now implemented. Not to forget the alternative language bot which allows you to present your articles with an easy accessible translation for your users.

A second article talks about the possibilities to manage regional content with the Joom!Fish and explains how you could manage various contents which are related to several countries in your company. How to use the Joom!Fish to manage those sites and the related content is described in detail.
