I am currently officially in vacation, however in the meantime I had few breaks of couple of days to spend in Sofia, Bulgaria and these were spent mainly on Joom!Fish. I came back yesterday from Sunny Beach (and yes the site www.vacanza.bg is build with Joom!Fish) resort, after incredible party with the world famous DJ Roger Sanchez (and yes, his site is also build with Joomla! :)). I came back empowered to complete what was left within the fish.
What happened during the time I have been at Sunny Beach was a total restructure of our SVN. This now allows the end users just to pack the trunk and to get what we are doing at the moment.
However this is not the most interesting. RC in terms of code and functionality is almost complete, we just need to make 4 very small implementations (I am currently working on 3 of them) and it is completed. Two are related to make the installer perfect (and once again from me ... thank you jxtended.com for the GPL code, that except of all is very easy readable)
Today, I was working on the installer again (it is close to perfect now), made some restructures of the codebase, writing documentation and trying to make the RC a real release candidate. The best release candidate is in fact the one that after it, there is nothing to change to release a Stable and that is and was always we were trying to achieve.
Our understanding of RC is in fact a version that can be used on a production site, however it still could contain some bugs (and of course you use it on your own risk). We already received very good feedback for the Beta2 (and mainly the interim releases available to donors afterward). In terms of functionality Joom!Fish is an absolute dominant in its field. In terms of load, the caching mechanism developed by Geraint significantly improves the load speed.
Now, it is time to think more about 3PD extensions. I have some ideas how to deal with all these, but at the end, I think we need a dedicated person to deal with it. First of all we need a volunteer to maintain a centralized database of all available 3PD content element files (as well as to create such). We are also considering a schema to benefit this person.
Of course, if possible, we would love this person to support (in his free time for sure), third party issues in our forum. It is still in a planning stage, but believe me, we are very concerned about the other extensions interacting with Joom!Fish.
If you have any ideas, thoughts or anything in this respect, please contact me with your idea at

RC is close, Stable is on the way ... no it is time to think about the surrounding world :).
