"Content Table Localisation Plugin" is a rather long name for a Joomfish Club addon that allows you to hide untranslated content on your site. To get started the plugin is simply installed and enabled.
What does it do?
Normally with Joomfish when you have an untranslated article your site visitors sees a message saying "there are no translations available" or perhaps the original content in a language they cannot read. This may not be the behaviour you want for a professional multilingual website.
With this plugin the untranslated article is simply not shown.
Where does it work?
It works with the following core menu item types and modules:
- Category Blog Layout
- Category List Layout
- Frontpage Blog Layout
- Section Blog Layout
- Section Layout
- Article Layout *
- Latest News Module
- Most Read Content Module
- Newsflash Module
* When viewing single articles if you switch language to a language with no translation then the content of the article will be blanked out or a no translation message given. The reason for this is that Joomla would throw a serious error message if Joomfish doesn't return an article and it would be a large performance overhead to disable the language switcher in this situation.
Advanced Options
Version 2.1 of the plugin introduces two new features:
Hide untranslated modules
There is a plugin parameter that allows you to hide untranslated modules. If you use this make sure that the Joomfish language switching module is translated, for obvious reasons.
Hide articles written in a non-default language
If you look at the advanced parameters tab when you write an article in Joomla you will see a "Content Language" option towards the bottom. This means that you can now create articles written in a language other than the site default language.
Consider a trilingual English, German and French website with English as the default language. If you compose an article in German and mark it as German then you would want this article to appear on the German site but NOT on the English or French sites. Now with version 2.1 of the Content Table Localisation Plugin you can do this (as long as you enable this option in the plugin parameters).
Also if you translate this article into French it will appear on the French and German sites but NOT on the English site.
Keeping Up To Date
It is important to keep this plugin up to date - each time you upgrade Joomla you should ensure that you have the latest version of the plugin. This way you can ensure that your untranslated content is remains hidden.
If you encounter problems with the plugin report the problems in the Gold & Silver Members forum and we will seek to address them as soon as possible. We aim to ensure that the plugin will always work with the menu types and modules listed above.
