[Not a FR] Your Feedback needed: Migration from 1.0.x -> 1.5

Postby alex on Sat Nov 10, 2007 2:56 pm

Hi all,

As you all know the Joomla! 1.0.x series will have a component called migrator (http://www.joomla.org/component/option, ... 105/p,401/) which will allow a transition of tables and fields into a Joomla! 1.5 installation.

We have created the required skripts to migrate the Joom!Fish tables and would like your feedback if this migration works for you or not.

Within our development SVN you find at:
/development/addons/joomfih_migrator

The files which are required for the migrator. Please check them out or use the attached archive. Please be aware that you need to either manually copy them to the extension or individually upload them to your server.

Please report any errors or problems you encounter during the migration.

Thanks

Alex

Also please note, that Joom!Fish doesn't work on 1.5 yet and you should report issues during the migration only.

Alex, is this designed to work with JF 1.8 only?

Yes this migrator skript expects the 1.8 table structure.

Hi Alex,
I installed the component migrator and upload jf_content.php - languages.php in the 'administrator/components/com_migrator/plugins' directory, and the joomfish.sql in the 'administrator/components/com_migrator/tables' directory and when I created the Migration SQL File in that file exist the contents of joomfish. When I loaded the migration script in a new site with joomla 1.5 I had a bad message:
"Upload failed! Check that the 'tmp' and 'installation/sql/migration' directories are writable."
I checked it and everything is writable, I'm learning php and I don't Know what can I do...
I hope this 'feedback' can be useful.
Good work!

Hello,

i downloaded migration plugins from your SVN and installed them, made an sql dump. but when j1.5 tried to include that dump during installation this is what i got:

Error at the line 36: ) TYPE=MyISAM AUTOjos_INCREMENT=1 ;

Query:CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `#jos_jos_jfjos_content` (
`id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL autojos_increment,
`languagejos_id` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`referencejos_id` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`referencejos_table` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`referencejos_field` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`value` text NOT NULL,
`originaljos_value` varchar(255) default NULL,
`originaljos_text` text,
`modified` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00',
`modifiedjos_by` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`published` tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
) TYPE=MyISAM AUTOjos_INCREMENT=1 ;

MySQL: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'autojos_increment, `languagejos_id` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `reference' at line 2

Stopped on error

a lot of jos_ prefixes everywhere. am i doing something wrong or you guys already know about this?
i am migrating from j1.0.15 + joomfish 1.8.2 to j1.5.2 joomfish 2.0

Looks like there is a change in the logic how to use/refer to the jos_ prefix.

What did you entered while migration in J!1.5 installation?

Howdy,

I have successfully migrated Joomla 1.0.15 core parts to 1.5.3.. after doing this I found this thread.
Can I use a migration-tool AFTER installation of 1.5.3 and migration via com_mtwmigrator-0.0.8?

Please tell me how to migrate properly, because otherwise I will have to move translations of a drum festival's website by drag'n'drop... horror...

Thanks for your great work so far

Hmm,

I don't know this new tool com_mtwmigrator-0.0.8 you mentioned. The files we created are for the com_migrator that is written by Sam. And this is supposed to be during the installation of your site.

What I suggest is. Use the tool from Sam and "migrate" to a clean Jooomla! 1.5 installation on a second instance. From there you can just copy the Joom!Fish tables and integrate them in your database after a uninstall of Joom!Fish 1.8 and a new install of 2.0 you should be fine.

Hi Alex,

The link for the migration script at the top of this thread links to a resource that is not available (since March?).

Can you provide a link to this resource on the Joomfish site? Is it there and I am missing it.

As a novice Joomla user, I am finding the documentation for migrating Joomfish pretty limited.

Thanks for your help,
Pete
