Hmz, this is more or less a feature request that we should consider.

Joomfish uses a cookie to remember the selected language between site visits (we use a 24 hour cookie life). As soon as you visit the site this cookie is set - this happens before a user logs in.

So the scenario is as follows:
1 "New" visitor to website
2. Visitor accepts presented language or changes to one they understand
3. Visitor goes to login page
4. Visitor logs in
5. Visitor redirected to article page

Joomfish sets the language at step 1/2. Whereas the user specific language is only determined at step 4/5. In other words the user must have been happy with their language selection from step1/2 so I'm not sure if we should over rule that selection when they are logged in.

We certainly shouldn't force the profile language otherwise the logged in user could never see content in other languages.

Does this make sense?

Postby skymoonraj on Sat May 31, 2008 8:59 am

Hello Everybody,

I am Rajkumar. New to joomfish. I have installed all the jomfish packages and the plug-ins in to my joomla admin. But i dont know the way of making translation in my site. Can any one tell me the proper step by step route of the language translation.

I have to translate my site from english to French. I had installed french language package also. in my joomfish plugin area there is some error like "No plugins installed yet". but i installed all the necessities up to my knowledge from joomla download area. So please give me your possible reply ASAP with the step by step process please.

Thank you,
