[Under review21] Idea: Table based (excell like) editing.

Hi there,

My idea is to have MS Excell like table to enable simpler editing with multiple language and probably multiple contents at the same time.

This is an over simplification of what I'm trying to bring to you. I'm sorry, I don't know if I can create a table in this forum . So I've attached a picture instead;

Initial reactions:

• I think you would need a 40inch monitor to make this workable even more if you have 12 languages.
• Also how many translators can translate into Russian and Chinese?

Hi,

I think this is a bit similar as "[invest.] Direct translation during article creation" viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1153 , isn't it?

I know these kind of translations from Typo and some people find this kinda helpful. I'm wondering if it is really that helpful as Geraint already explained.

But may be in combination with the frontend translation process where you can limit the languages of a user to a smaller set it might make sense?

Hmm... thankyou for noticing the space problem. you're right.

But i think if one can put a "next language" button on the top, users will find it easier to navigate and compare between different languages for the same content, and probably reducing the clicking needed.

What the title "INVEST" means, anyway?

*Oh, i've just seen another idea in the wishlist "Language Switcher in the frontend-editing-form", http://www.joomfish.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=954. It spoke of the same idea, which is an ease to change between languages in the same content, only that for me, the language change button does'nt have to be inside the editor.

Which means, 3 persons came up with the same thing.
