Simplicity of managing multilingual websites

Postby alex on Mon May 30, 2011 11:17 am

Hi all,

I created a slide deck with some information about multilingual websites and what to be aware of for the Joomla!Day in Athens 2011. Please share your feedback, ideas and information about it here in the forum.

Kind regards

Hi!

I really like your slideshow.

Maybe the audio was missing for more explanation, but I guess it wasn't recorded in Athens.

I have some question, on page 7 about "manual localisation" you said that we can use 3rd party service and tools to easy the process. Could you please give me some names or links ?

Hi,

The session was recorded. Not sure when it will be published may be you double check their site http://joomladay.gr/ or the http://vimeo.com site as they wanted to post it there.

This is abit tricky as e.g. Google Translate is a service you can use. More professional services are hard to find and mostly you should have a look at your local partners on site. There are several web groups and forums speaking about the topics of translation services e.g.

http://www.translatorscafe.com/cafe/default.asp

or more found at google

Thanks. I was rather looking for tools than services as I do translation by myself.

I know extensions like Joomfish Google Translator but I don't like automatic translation.

I'm more looking for a way to integrate dictionary into Joomfish.

As I didn't find yet, I'm using Firefox plugin to do the trick and have dictionary when right clicking on words.

I can't wait to see the video of JoomlaDay!
