Language menu showing on mainmenu

Postby MarieG on Mon Nov 19, 2007 8:37 pm

Hello, I'm having problems configuring the language extension.
I downloaded Joomfish 1.8.1 + the Mod Menu Multilanguage extension + the fix for Joomla to solve the login out problem.
Then I made a new menu module called mainmenu_es (also tried calling it mainmenu_spanish). Then I activated Joomfish and the multilanguage aware main menu. When I choose English or Spanish in the selection box at the top, I get the mainmenu and mainmenu_es both together at the same time.
How do I make it so that I get the English menu only when I choose English, and the Spanish menu when I select Spanish.
I followed the instructions and read things up on the forums but I still cant get it to work. I'm a newbie so if anyone can help me, please explain in simple terms ! Thanks

You need to create mainmenu_en and to unpublish the basic mainmenu.

Thanks for your reply. I got it working ok before seeing your message. BUT I did it the other way around and created a new menu called mainmenu_spanish and left the default mainmenu as it is. (I think)
The only module I have activated in modules is mod_mainmenu_ml and the reason why 2 menus were coming up was because I was activating mod_mainmenu and mod_mainmenu_spanish. I see now, that only mainmenu should be activated.
I must say that the instructions given with Joomfish 1.8.are not at all clear and most of the time things only get done by trial and error. The trouble with this is, that after doing it, I cant remember how I did it.
There should be some proper instructions detailing each step clearly as its very confusing indeed !!
Anyway, thanks for replying to my post.

Hi to everybody,

I have the same problem and could not fix it...

I have copied the "mainmanu" as "mainmenu_ru" from the menu manager and change the menu items of the mainmenu_ru to the Russuian language , and then set the "menu name" as "mainmenu_ru" from the module properties and then publish it.

I have also installed "mod_mainmenu_ml" and puplished it, then unpublish "mainmenu" from the modules manager.

Then when I go to frontpage, I see both "mainmenu_ru" and "Multilingual aware Main Menu". There is no change when I switch the language Engilsh to Russian and vice versa.

Of course I need just one menu related with the selected language.

Would you please help me how to solve the problem...

Thanks...
