Hello all,

I agree with Franky, as one need absolutely a new router like the Jfrouter pro.
Do you think the team could developp such a plugin? As least waiting for a new version of joomfish?

Yes we can do that. The question is if this is really our business or more the one of SEF Extensions. Just wondering

Hello Alex,

I'm wondering as well. However, as a multilanguism specialist, you know that the url and domain name (or sub-domain) management is necessary for a good managing of languages.

You could, for instance developp this plugin, and purpose it to your members, because they will need it anyway (in fact, i should create a new topic about it and have a look on how many answers and followers we would have).
You tried but I'm not good enough at coding.

It could be a good exercise for you to handle joomla 1.6 by coding it, LOL ;)

I don't like the idea to create a new article for each language. If I don't have to, please ignore me because I'm dumb!

With Joom!Fish I just translated my articles, but at all I got one article in the backend, with one alias and so on.

With Joomla! 1.6 I have to create 2 articles with the different tags, but they can't have the same tag. So if I want to translate anything, which just got a name, like company names I have to use a different alias. Thats kinda stupid, isn't it. Hate this for such a dumb solution...

Hello,

I have been using Joomfish on a project and had some more features I came across that I liked/disliked.

I find the Menu Localisation & Content Localisation plugins very important. I found it very useful.

One thing that might be something worth looking at that I think is possible in Joomla 1.6 that is not possible in Joomfish currently is the ability to have different menu structures all together and having content in the secondary language that doesn't exist in the primary language.

From what I understand of how Joomfish works is that you have the original content and you can translate that into a different language.
But what about if you have content in the secondary language that is not in the original content? This wouldn't be a translation, it would be an "orphan" in the way that Joomfish handles things.

I had never heard of joomla or joomfish until today.
I run a trinlingual site @ salvamento dot org using wordpress and a plugin called qtranslate.
I am always looking for a better CMS that prioritizes multilingual content, front and backend, for a multilingual audience and multilingual users on the backend, (Hello anyone realize the internet is throughout the world).

ANYWAY, after banging my head back and forth troubleshooting on why I could not install the recent joomfish on joomla 1.6 is because it has not been updated for 1.6 yet?
Anyone? I'll stick with WP/qtranslate until I find a better replacement, I thought joomla and this extension would be it.

Pros for Qtranslate..
tabs for different languages on your posts/page UI when adding them.
Widgetized flags, etc.
and the UI can be translated on the fly by clicking on the language flags one has configured.

I am itching to try this though! Is it not ready for 1.6???

Probably everybody will feel like this. Wouldn't it have been the most easy and obvious way to implement the multilingual support as a core feature of Joomla, to simply identify articles, menus, and menu items by the alias combined with a country (resp. language) code?

And wouldn't it maybe in consideration of the 'optimizability' of Joomlas multilingualization support, be the best to make 'business as usual' (as far as possible) and adapt JF only as much as necessary for now to have a 1.6 compatible JF?

Correct.

Did you tried Joomla 1.5 with JoomFish? It is worth trying as Joomla 1.6 is so brand new that you will have trouble to find good extensions you are interested in.

You have not tested 1.6 yet, right? 1.6 introduce a core function exactly as you describe it. May be you check and see if it fits your needs and give us your feedback on it.

If we do not change something for the upcoming 3.0 (which will be the version for J 1.6) then I would argue we are loosing our chance to innovate and make the process even more easy to be used.
