Joom!Fish urgently needed, Joomla 1.6 unusable

This forum is to discuss everything related the future release of Joom!Fish dedicated to Joomla releases 1.7 and higher. The first edition of this release will be re-using the existing data storage logic and therefore be compatible with the Joom!Fish 2.2 released regarding table structure and logic.

We are preparing a version that will be compatible with 1.7 not 1.6!

The issue is that 1.6 has some issues that had been fixed together with the Joomla devs in the next release. Therefore I recommend you think about 1.7 rather 1.6.

Thank you but by the time joomla 1.7 will be released my project will have to be delivered. Ihave to start next week and end it within 1 month.

Thank you once again. now i just need to figure out if i can implement a "pseudo" associative translation system for 1.6 or go with joomla 1.5.

Just updated Joomla 1.6 to Joomla 1.7 and read that:
JModelList casts $query to string unnecessarily making it impossible to implement Joomfish (Geraint Edwards)

Any news on when Joomfish will be available for 1.7 or 1.8 or...

I have built a webiste in 3 languages on Joomla 1.6 but find it not very pleasant... and really miss Joomfish...

Thanks for any comment on that :-)

I agree. Searched the entire site but no news on expected support for the latest and greatest joomla 1.7.

Any light that can be shed on the matter is greatly appreciated!!!

The major difference 1.5 vs 1.6 is the Access Control Level . There was something for 1.5 called K2 - i think - but it was incompatibility ridden. I can't remember any more, what the incompatibility was but it may have been joomfish ...

Very true, J! 1.6's inbuilt multilingual support is a joke.

What needs to be recognized here is, delaying this support will cost both J! J!fish it's support-base. We will start moving to Drupal - even if it's not all that hot. We are not interested of excuses and explanations. Can't do anything with that.

Hope you'll find the solution quickly.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Joom!Fish Team,
i'm sorry to ask this again but can you give us a little bit more information on you next releases e.g. for joomla 1.7. many designer from my community would love to use joom!fish again on theire new sites but at the moment we can't. And the worst thing is that we can't tell clients the date when it will be possible.

Please share some more information about the status of your version for 1.7.
Thanks Pressmar :D
