Fireboard 1.0.4 and Joomfish 2.0 compatibility issue

Postby mlinden on Mon Jul 14, 2008 10:46 pm

Hi,

I'm working on a project with Joomla 1.5.3 which requires both multi-language switching between English, French and Spanish and a user forum.

I was planning on using Joomfish 2.0 beta and Fireboard 1.0.4 in legacy mode (with Joomla 1.5.3)

However when the Joomfish abstraction layer plugin is switched on Fireboard fails to work, generating the following error message: _PROBLEM_CREATING_PROFILE

The problem is exactly as described here:

http://www.bestofjoomla.com/component/o ... /catid,74/

I don't know whether the problem lies primarily with Joomfish or Fireboard, but I need them both to work (and I would have thought the problem would be fairly fundamental to anyone who wants to run a multilingual website with some user interaction).

I have also posted this to the bestofjoomla forum.

If anyone has got an idea what might be causing the problem or ideas for a fix I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,

Matthew

Did you try Joomfish 2.0Beta2 - this problem was fixed in beta2 I believe.

Unfortunately using 2.0Beta2 did not solve the problem. Still get the same error with Fireboard
_PROBLEM_CREATING_PROFILE which goes away when the Joomfish abstraction layer is switched off. :(

Matthew

I just installed Fireboard to test - and I don't see this problem. I do get error messages in the admin interface since I am using mysqli and Fireboard assumes I am using mysql and hence uses the wrong function calls in places.

In order to solve another problem for another club member I uploaded a patch upgrade for Joomfish based on the latest code in SVN which you (as a Silver level club member) can access in the special Silver and Gold Club Extensions forum at viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1513&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p7132

Can you try that version. If it doesn't solve your problem can you explain exactly when you see the error message (i.e. what you are doing) and also the key info about your system configuration.

Hi Geraint,

Thanks a lot. That works.

One thing I am uncertain about - I had jfrouterpro installed over the top of jfrouter (installation package provided by Ivo) which created an additional folder in /plugins/system called jfrouterpro. In order to get the site to display now I have had to enable the jfrouter basic plugin in extensions / plugins. Should I just leave jfrouterpro folder in place?

I have jfrouterpro running with no problems. It will have absolutely no impact on Fireboard.

WOW that is wonderful news.

So basically all I need to do is become silver or gold supporter and I get to have FireBoard and JF to function properly together?

Is there a tracker # for this bug I would like to read more about this and how you managed to resolve it. I suspect I have another component DT Register that works with jEvents in legacy that is causing some errors.

Could either of you send me a quick reply to confirm that I understand correctly that I will be able to get a fix if I become a silver or gold supporter than I will do this right away.

Kind regards and thanks for building the most valuable component for Joomla!!!

BTW will you also switch to Fireboard to be able to have Multilingual boards or will you wait untill Fireboard becomes 1.5 native (& stable)?
* PHP version 5.2.8
* Joomla! version 1.5.8
* Joom!Fish version 2.0.2 stable
* Apache 2.0.63
* Linux 2.6.18-92.1.22
* Database version 5.0.67-community
* memory_limit from phpinfo is 64M

I am very much looking forward to get the same fix Mathew has access to... So I donated !!

Besides this a project like yours should get some financial support.

Anyway I tried to use the same link provided above but I have not been able to access that
---> " the special Silver and Gold Club Extensions forum at viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1513&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p7132 "
I get message "You are not authorised to read this forum." ?

Do you need to recognize me as a silver guy ?

Once I have access I will obvious let you know if this solved it for me as well via the forum.
