Create translation for OwnBiblio

Postby annivas on Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:38 pm

Hi, I would like to create translations for the OwnBiblio component
< http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/ >

Is there a guide on how to do that?

I have no idea about this component, but this should be quite simple.

If you have Joomla! 1.0.x and com_ownbiblio1.4beta.zip, there seems to be only one language file in
/languages/ directory. Open english.php with suitable editor and translate. For example
Code: Select all
DEFINE("_OWNBIBLIO_TITLE","Title");

to this
Code: Select all
DEFINE("_OWNBIBLIO_TITLE","put here the word(s) in your language");

Then save as "yourlanguage.php". If you have special characters, you probably have to replace them with some other special characters. This you have to find out from other language files in your language.

If you have Joomla! 1.5.x and com_ownbiblio1.5_fixed.zip. Find next files
Code: Select all
/admin/languages/en-GB.com_ownbiblio.ini
/site/languages/en-GB.com_ownbiblio.ini

Open them, translate them as described above and finally save. Note! You have to have editor which manages to save the files UTF-8 no bom. Special characters can be as they appear.

If in case you have some words untranslated, contact the developers of this component. They can tell you the exacts language files. And to be honest, this is more OwnBiblio issue than Joom!Fish. If you have problems you might contact OwnBiblio people because they know their extensions. ;)

Thanks but that's not what I meant really... OwnBiblio is a digital library component. It creates entries for bibliography. So, I want to be able to have the book titles and descriptions translated. Upon selecting the appropriate language from the Joomfish language selection module, to see the correct translation for each book.

thanks anyway

That is what you asked.

You need content elements files and that's to deep coding for me, sorry. See this

Perhaps I could do it if I had something as a guide. These instructions are rather vague for my knowledge. But I have some questions:

Can it be done AFTER the component is installed or do I have to make any changes to the installer files first?

If I DL some other content element file for another component, will I be able to "adjust" it in order to work for OwnBiblio or should I start from scratch?

Is there anybody out there willing to do it for me and how much would that cost me? ;)

Any help is greatly appreciated!
